UTT Strengthens Digital Technology Connections for the Future of Railway Infrastructure in Vietnam
On 9 September 2026, in Hanoi, a delegation from the University of Transport Technology (UTT), led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Ngoc Khiem – Permanent Vice Rector of the University, together with representatives of the BIM&AI Technology Center, attended the BIM & Digital Technology Workshop themed “Promoting Railway Infrastructure Development in Vietnam”.
The workshop was jointly organized by the Institute of Construction Economics (Ministry of Construction) and the British Embassy in Vietnam, bringing together a large number of regulatory authorities, educational institutions, experts, and domestic and international technology enterprises.
An important highlight of the event was the launch of the Academic Network under the Centre of Excellence (CoE) for BIM in railway infrastructure. Notably, the University of Transport Technology was honored to be one of five universities selected to join the Network.
Joining the Academic Network opens up many opportunities for UTT and the BIM&AI Technology Center to strengthen connections with regulatory authorities, universities, enterprises, and international experts; while also promoting cooperation in human resource training, scientific research, technology transfer, and the application of BIM – digital technologies in railway projects in Vietnam.
As Vietnam accelerates the development of urban railways and high-speed railways, the requirements for human resources in the transport sector are also changing rapidly. Future engineers need not only a solid professional foundation, but also the ability to master BIM, digital data, artificial intelligence (AI), Common Data Environment (CDE), Digital Twin, and emerging technologies throughout the entire lifecycle of infrastructure projects.
With the orientation of “BIM combined with AI”, the BIM&AI Technology Center – UTT is gradually strengthening research, training, and the application of digital technology solutions, closely linked to practical challenges in the transport sector.
Joining the Academic Network for BIM in railway infrastructure is a concrete step that demonstrates UTT’s strategic vision and pioneering spirit in digital human resource training, research, and technology transfer; ready to contribute to the modernization of Vietnam’s transport infrastructure.
